Flooding Taskforce hears from local residents in Fermanagh

Monday, 11 January 2010

The Flooding Task Force has today heard evidence directly from the residents of Fermanagh affected by recent flooding.

The Task Force said that the evidence sessions held in Enniskillen and Lisnaskea, had been very informative and had helped to establish at first hand the realities and implications of the flooding.

The Task Force will now consider all the issues raised at each of the evidence sessions and aims to produce an interim report by the end of February 2010.

Notes to editors:

  1. The Flooding Taskforce was set up to investigate the factors which contributed to the flooding and to consider how departments can assist in dealing with the aftermath. The Taskforce will examine the lessons learned, identify longer term planning issues and consider possible measures to minimise the impact of future flooding.
