Robinson congratulates Cookstown Council
Wednesday, 16 June 2010First Minister Rt Hon Peter D. Robinson MLA has congratulated Cookstown Council on the launch of their new multi sectoral tendering programme.
The new programme is designed to boost local business by maximising access to the Council’s procurement programme.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Robinson said: "Cookstown District Council has recognised the importance of developing and stimulating the private sector at a local grassroots level by putting the development of local business at the heart of its tendering programme.
"This programme will equip local business with the ability to identify and access opportunities for new contracts from all quarters. It will encourage and support them to broaden and extend their customer base beyond their current target market.
"It is very practical nature will certainly address the barriers faced by those businesses interested in bidding for public contracts.
"I have no doubt that this tendering programme will help to create and foster a business environment which encourages more small business start-ups and create more jobs, benefiting the people of Cookstown for years to come."
