The British-Irish Council

The British-Irish Council promotes the harmonious and mutually beneficial development of relationships among the people of the United Kingdom, Ireland, the devolved institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and the Isle ofMan, Jersey and Guernsey.

The Council’s work programme covers the following areas of mutual interest:

  • misuse of drugs,
  • the environment,
  • the knowledge economy,
  • social inclusion,

  • transport
