O’Dowd attends official opening of new building for Belfast school

Education Minister, John O’Dowd, has attended the official opening of a new school building for Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock.
Friday, 10 February 2012

The new building represents a capital investment of £22million and is part of a four school Public Private Partnership cluster.

The Minister said: “It is an honour for me to help Our Lady and St Patrick’s College celebrate the official opening of their new school building and I would like to thank all involved with the school for their kind invitation.

“The new school provides a wonderful environment for the current pupils and future generations to learn and develop in. And as a partner in the Castlereagh Area Learning Community, pupils from 11 other schools will also be able to benefit from the facilities by taking courses at this school.

“After its last inspection the quality of education provided by Our Lady and St Patrick’s College was deemed very good, and these new facilities can only help ensure that children who attend the school continue to receive this high level of provision.”

The Minister added: “I would like to thank all who have been involved with the process to reach the stage where the new school opens its doors.

“I wish the whole school community all the very best for the future as a new era in its history begins.”
