07 December 2007 - Gildernew announces extension to fruit and vegetable consultation

Minister Michelle Gildernew MP MLA has announced an extension to the closing date of the CAP Reform consultation on fruit and vegetable production.

The deadline to the current consultation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Fruit and Vegetable Reform has been extended to 31 January 2008. The decision is in response to representations received from key local stakeholders.

Announcing her decision, the Minister said: “I am very pleased to be able to extend this consultation until the end of January 2008. This process began in October and it is important that everyone has enough time to fully consider all aspects of the CAP Reform. The extension offers everyone a further opportunity to express their views and suggestions to my Department.”

All organisations which were sent the original consultation document are being informed of the extension.

The consultation was launched on 18 October and is accessible online on the DARD website link to external website.
