Gildernew Meets With NI Badger Group
Friday, 10 July 2009Minister Michelle Gildernew, MP, MLA today met with representatives from the Northern Ireland Badger Group and outlined the progress to date of the TB Strategy.
The Strategy was announced to the Assembly in December 2008 and addresses real partnership between government and industry as well as controlling the spread of TB between cattle and the wildlife factor.
Speaking afterwards the Minister said: "Bovine TB is a complex disease, and I am convinced that we need a holistic approach that deals with all the factors effectively. I recognise that there are different view points on this subject and I respect them all. The TB Strategy represents a phased approach based on proportionality, sound science and economic affordability."
