Gildernew attends opening day at Balmoral show

Michelle Gildernew MLA, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has attended the opening day of the Balmoral Show.

The Minister was met by John Kelly, Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) President, and Colin McDonald, RUAS Chief Executive, and spent the day visiting a number of stands throughout the show.

Ms Gildernew said: “It is a privilege to be here today as the newly appointed Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development. The Balmoral Show is a brilliant opportunity for me to meet the people who know the day to day realities for farming and living in a rural community.

“Today is a wonderful illustration of all that is best in local agriculture and rural development, of farming in all its dimensions and it’s very encouraging to see so many people enjoying a family day out.”
