During the meeting, the Minister focused on the effects of the recent dioxin contamination and problems that the pig industry facing north and south.
Speaking after the meeting, the Minister said: “This incident has demonstrated the benefits of accurate record keeping and traceability. The Executive has recently commissioned a review into the communications and handling of the dioxins incident in the North and I will consider any recommendations which the review makes in due course.”
She also discussed with the group potential marketing strategies including the Bord Bia Quality Logo, she added: “This was a good opportunity to discuss how producers can work with support organisations such as Bord Bia to get the best returns from the market place.”
