However, the ban remains in place in respect of those zones that are still restricted in Britain for Avian Influenza and birds may not travel to these areas and return.
This decision is consistent with the Defra announcement on 23 November 2007 that the ban in Britain on all bird gatherings was being lifted, with the exception of the zones still under restriction. The decision is also consistent with the position taken by the authorities in Dublin.
The ban on the movement of birds from Britain to attend bird gatherings here remains in place, but this situation will be kept under review.
There has been no change to trade requirements. New specific and general licensing arrangements introduced on 13 November 2007 still apply. Any prospective importer wishing to import produce from any part of Britain should contact DARD Trade Section at 028 9052 4664 before import.
DARD will continue to monitor the position in regard to developments in Britain. DARD continues to liaise and monitor the situation closely with Defra, other Devolved Administrations and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (DAFF) in Dublin, while keeping these measures under review.
