PRONI fees and charges 2009

Wednesday, 8 April 2009

From 13 April 2009 the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is introducing revised fees for the search or copying of some public records.

The current tariff for goods and services has not been updated since 1996 and the new fees and charges will bring them in line with current costs and introduce appropriate charges for availability of new services.

Director of PRONI, Aileen McClintock said: “PRONI is committed to increasing access to the archives through a variety of means such as catalogues and wills indexes being available on our website. We are also committed to ensuring that all our services remain accessible to users, including those with limited means.

“This is why the revised fees have been deliberately set at a low level and not all of the organisation’s direct and indirect costs are being passed on to the customer.

“We are continuously looking at ways to improve our service to the customer and any additional funds generated will be reinvested into the development of the organisation, the introduction of new products and also help to further open our resources to both national and international users via the internet.”
