The Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure, Edwin Poots, MLA is keen for all those who have an interest in this area to respond to the consultation before 11 April 2008.
Minister Poots commented: “This consultation presents those with an interest in salmon and inland fisheries in Northern Ireland with an opportunity to express their views on how stakeholders will be represented in the future. Conservation and protection of salmon and inland fisheries is paramount and I recognise the importance of involving those who have an interest in this area.”
As a result of the ongoing review of public administration, the Fisheries Conservancy Board is being abolished and its powers transferred to DCAL. As the Fisheries Conservancy Board is the current representative forum for salmon and inland fishery interests in Northern Ireland, the Department is now considering how stakeholders can be best represented in the future. The Salmon and Inland Fisheries Stakeholder Consultation seeks to obtain views from as many people as possible regarding the Departments proposals.
