Poots welcomes Worthington to new Northern Ireland job

Sports Minister, Edwin Poots, MLA, has welcomed the appointment of Nigel Worthington as the new international team manager of the Northern Ireland Football Team.

Commenting after the IFA announcement today, the Minister said: "I wish Nigel well in his new job. He is a local man who brings with him a lot of national and international experience. With Glynn Snodin and Fred Barber to support him, it promises to be an excellent coaching team.

"The Northern Ireland football team has gone from strength to strength over the past two seasons and they still have challenges to meet in the coming six Euro 2008 qualifying matches before the end of November.

“To Nigel and all his team I say 'good luck'."
