26 April 2008 - Stormont plays host to community relations week

Over 200 young people are taking part in “Your Past, Our Future” at Parliament Buildings today, a showcase event being held as part of Community Relations Week.

Organised through the Inter-Board Community Relations Youth Panel and the Department of Education, the day is comprised of interactive and creative workshops including hip hop, drama and debate.

Speaking at the event Will Haire, Permanent Secretary, Department of Education said: “This is a wonderful, varied programme, in a wonderful setting. It will be great fun and at the same time an exciting opportunity for young people to meet.”

“We are really pleased that so many young people, from all sides of the community have come together to take part in today and the rest of the week’s activities. They demonstrate a clear desire for a society which embraces equality and respects diversity.

“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making this day a success and hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.”
