08 August 2007 - Ruane agrees amalgamation of two Primary Schools

Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, has agreed to the amalgamation of St Joseph’s PS, Ahoghill with St Patrick’s PS, Aughtercloney.

The new school will be situated on the site of the current St Joseph’s school.

Commenting on her decision, the Minister said: “The School Trustees, supported by the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS), brought forward this proposal in light of demographic decline. The amalgamation will help deal with surplus capacity, reduce pressure on teachers in delivering the curriculum, and improve the educational experiences of the children concerned.”
