27 February 2008 - School building schemes will proceed - Ruane

Education Minister Caitríona Ruane has given the go-ahead for school building schemes at Dean Maguirc College in Carrickmore and Priory Integrated College in Holywood.

The schemes had been put on hold because of uncertainties on the provision needed in the relevant areas and the potential impact of enrolment trends for these projects.

The Minister said: “I am pleased to be able to announce that schemes for new build accommodation at Dean Maguirc College and Priory Integrated College can now proceed.

“Both schools perform an important role within their communities and, following a detailed examination of the issues relating to the schools, I am confident that they can provide a strong education for the future needs of children in their areas.

“Today’s announcement gives both schools a firm foundation on which to build.”
