Ruane offers condolences to Armagh schoolboy's family

Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, has offered her sympathies to the family of Jamie McGee.

The Minister also paid tribute to the Principal and teachers of St Patrick’s Primary School following the death of Jamie on Monday morning.

The Minister said: “I have spoken to the Principal and offered my deepest sympathies to the family and school at this tragic time. On Monday morning the school offered immediate assistance to Jamie through a trained Heart Start teacher but sadly he died later.

“The Southern Education and Library Board and CCMS have provided invaluable support and trained counsellors have been working in the school.

“I would appeal to the media to respect the privacy of the family and school at this very sad time.”
