Consultation on review of special needs extended

The consultation period on the Department of Education’s Review of Special Educational Needs and Inclusion has been extended by one month to 30 November 2009.

A spokesperson for the Department said: "In August the Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, launched the Review of SEN and Inclusion for a 12 week consultation period. We have held a number of public information meetings and have had a number of requests for an extension to the consultation period to enable full consideration to be given to the report.

"Given the importance of this review, the Education Minister has agreed to extend the closing date for receipt of responses by one month to 30 November 2009. We would encourage all with an interest in this important area of education to ensure their views are heard."
