Minister announces appointment to the governing body of Northern Regional College

Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, today announced the appointment of Mr Richard Jay to the governing body of Northern Regional College.

Mr Jay was, until recently, Director of Education in the School of Education at Queen's University, where he had worked since 1974. He was the Assistant Director of the Institute of Lifelong Learning, Academic Director of the QUB Armagh campus until 2005 and senior lecturer in the School of Politics. Mr Jay was a member of the North East Institute governing body from 2000 to 2007.

The governing body of Northern Regional College is responsible for securing the efficient and effective management of the college, agreeing and monitoring its strategic direction, appointing the college’s senior staff and ensuring that the college acts as a responsible employer. The appointment will be for a period of four years from 25 January 2010 to 24 January 2014. The position is not remunerated.
