Employees demonstrate how "IT works"

Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, today presented certificates to participants of the “IT Works” Project.

The project provides Information Communication Technology training to employed people with disabilities, in employment, and is delivered by Disability Action. “IT Works” is funded by the European Social Fund under the European Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, also known as PEACE II.

The Minister paid tribute to the contribution made by the PEACE II Programme in providing employed disabled people with access to accredited qualifications and the additional support and mentoring, which is an essential part of the learning process.

The Minister said: “I applaud Disability Action for making the most of the funding available through the PEACE II programme, to develop the aims of increasing access to the workplace for people with disabilities.

“Projects such as “IT Works” underpin and complement the Department’s objective of developing and enhancing the employability skills of people with disabilities and improving access to the labour market. We will continue to listen to the views of a range of organisations and individuals when making policy decisions, with the aim of improving the services available for those with disabilities.”
