Acquisition saves 150 year old meat company
Thursday, 15 January 2009Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster welcomed today’s announcement by Dunbia Group to acquire the Stevenson pork processing business in Cullybackey.
Welcoming the acquisition the Minister said: “Stevenson and Company is a long established, local pig meat processor with over 150 years experience in the business and today’s acquisition announcement ensures the future of the company’s 100 workforce.”
Arlene Foster continued: “County Tyrone based meat processing company, Dunbia group has recognised the value of an experienced workforce and quality products. Dunbia has the opportunity to build on the good reputation of Stevenson’s to grow future production.”
In conclusion the Minister said: “This is undoubtedly good news in the current economic climate and especially in the meat sector which has faced particular challenges over the last few months.”
