Featuring 30 contemporary art works, the exhibition draws from the collections of the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS), the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and the Office of Public Works (OPW) in Dublin.
The exhibition includes figurative and abstract paintings and photographs by 10 living Irish artists - five from Northern Ireland and five from the Republic. Among those featured are well known names like Neil Shawcross, Brian Ballard and Jack Pakenham, as well as Rita Duffy, Darren Murray, Gary Coyle, Mary Kelly, Sarah Longley, Cormac O'Leary and Wesley Triggs.
The Department of Finance & Personnel (DFP), on behalf of the NICS, has been working with OPW in organising joint art exhibitions since 1997. Over the past decade, these exhibitions have toured extensively throughout Ireland and abroad, via local arts centres, libraries, civic offices, colleges and heritage sites. ‘Journeys’ celebrates the tenth shared venture between the two Departments and reflects the creative journeys of the artists involved.
