The Minister said: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of the teenage girl who tragically died in yesterday’s horrific accident. My thoughts are also with the young girl who is currently being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital and I very much hope that she makes a full recovery.
“At this incredibly sad time, I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of the many emergency and healthcare staff who worked so hard in dealing with the accident. The staff from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, the Fire and Rescue Service, Craigavon Area Hospital and the Royal Victoria Hospital should be proud of their collective and individual roles in responding to the accident and for the care and support they have provided, and continue to provide, to all those involved.”
The Minister continued: “The death of a child is extremely distressing. I understand that many of the emergency and healthcare staff involved in this accident will share in the pain of losing someone so young. I would like to thank each of you, on behalf of the government, my department and the local community, for the job in which you carry out each day.”
