Department of Health publishes spending plans for 2008/09
Tuesday, 3 February 2009The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) has published its annual report, the Strategic Resources Framework, highlighting how it plans to spend its 2008/09 budget.
The report highlights how £3.4billion of the Department’s £3.9billion revenue budget will be spent on Health and Social Care and is available to download from the Department’s website.
A spokesperson for DHSSPS said: “The Strategic Resources Framework is an annual publication that highlights where the Department plans to spend its funds. By making these plans available to the public, the department is showing tax payers where their money will be spent. The department remains committed to providing clarity and accountability in the use of public funds “
“The report also helps the department to analyse what services are being delivered at a detailed geographical level. This helps us to ensure that the public get the best services available for the money deployed.”
The Strategic Resources Framework 2008/09 shows that Acute Services account for over £1.1billion of the total planned expenditure by commissioners, an increase of £111million on funds last year. This, together with funds to be spent on elderly care, accounts for nearly two thirds of the total financial resources covered in the report.
Expenditure on Primary Care services, totalling £780million, has been included in the publication for the first time this year.
