03 June 2009 - McGimpsey welcomes Princess Royal at Cruse Bereavement 50th anniversary

Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey today welcomed Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal at the Cruse Bereavement Care 50th Anniversary Reception.

Speaking at the event in Malone House, Barnett Demesne, Belfast the Minister said: “Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal dedicates a large part of her working life to supporting charities and I am delighted to welcome her to Belfast on such a momentous day for the Cruse Bereavement Care Charity.

“Cruse has been established in Northern Ireland since 1984 with a volunteer base of 500 people who dedicate their time and resources to helping people within our local communities come to terms with the loss of a loved one.

“These dedicated individuals promote the well being of bereaved people and enable anyone suffering bereavement, regardless of their background or the circumstances of the bereavement, to receive professional support and understand their grief and cope with their loss.”

Cruse Bereavement support services are provided free of charge and services are delivered via a branch structure with offices based in Belfast, Londonderry, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Bangor, Newry, Omagh and Moy.
