The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety announces settlement of the claims brought against Goldshield Pharmaceuticals Ltd for alleged anti-competitive cartel conduct

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Health and Social Services Boards (“Claimants”) and Goldshield Pharmaceuticals Ltd are pleased to jointly announce settlement of the claims brought against Goldshield for alleged anti-competitive cartel conduct in connection with the supply to the Claimants of generic drugs. Under the terms of the settlement Goldshield has agreed, on a full and final basis and without admission of liability, to compensate the Claimants by payment of £250,000 and to provide co-operation in connection with the continuing claims regarding the alleged price fixing arrangements. Both Goldshield and the Claimants look forward to a strong working relationship in the future and are committed to the highest standards of health care at all levels.

Michael McGimpsey, Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety said: “It is welcoming news that Goldshield has settled with us and agreed to co-operate. This settlement with Goldshield represents an important step in the right direction in enabling the recovery of losses.”
