Environment Minister goes on Nature Quest at W5
Thursday, 1 July 2010Environment Minister Edwin Poots today visited Nature Quest, a new exhibition sponsored by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency at W5.
Nature Quest runs until September 2010 and has 19 interactive games, challenges and resources that take visitors on a journey to explore the beauty, drama and variety of the natural world.
Commenting on Nature Quest the Minister said: “I am extremely pleased that my Department is associated with this wonderful exhibition which highlights the beauty and splendour of nature.
“As this is International Year of Biodiversity, I would encourage everyone to visit this exhibition and seek out some of the spectacular wildlife that is on our own doorstep.”
The exhibition also features one of the most modern exhibits W5 has ever offered – the ‘iWall’ which has been developed in partnership with Northern Ireland Environment Agency. The iWall is a large, interactive screen which allows visitors to access hundreds of photographs and videos, exploring Northern Ireland habitats and the plants and animals that live here.

- W5 has worked with environmental experts and organisations such as the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), RSPB and Northern Ireland Environment Link to create the content for the 19 new exhibits.
- This new exhibition was designed and developed by W5 and part-funded by Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and NITB’s Tourism and Development scheme and is sponsored by Northern Ireland Environmental Agency and UTV.
- The exhibition also includes the return of Animated Adventures which demonstrates how the Oscar – winning film “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” was made; from the initial concept to the final film.
