Trevor Corscadden (48) of Castleroe Road, Coleraine, was fined a total of £2,000 at Coleraine Magistrates’ court today for breaches of waste management legislation.
Officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency investigated a site owned by Mr. Corscadden at Castleroe Road, Coleraine on 10 October 2007. A substantial quantity of end of life vehicles and parts of end of life vehicles (ELVs) had been deposited at the site, which did not have a licence to operate as an authorised treatment facility for end of life vehicles. Officers estimated that around 300 ELVs were on site at the time of the visit.
Mr Corscadden pleaded guilty on two waste charges under The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 and was fined £2,000 plus £142 court costs.

- Mr Corscadden was fined under Articles 4(1)a, 4(6), 4(1)b and 4(6) of the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997. He was fined £1,000 on each charge and court costs of £142.
- The charges related to the treating, keeping and disposal of controlled waste, or knowingly causing or knowingly permitting controlled waste to be treated, kept or disposed of in or on any land except under and in accordance with a waste management licence.
- End of Life Vehicles are defined as vehicles that are categorised as waste. Waste is defined as anything that you discard, intend to discard or are required to discard.
