Newry businessman fined £200 for waste offences

A Newry businessman was fined today at Newry Magistrates’ court for breaches of waste management legislation.

Francis Joseph Donnelly (57) of Mountain Road, Cloghoge was fined a total of £200 plus £49 court costs.

Northern Ireland Environment Agency officers investigated a site at Mountain Road Cloghoge, owned by Mr Donnelly, where substantial quantities of controlled wastes were deposited. Wastes identified on site were metals, plastics, End of Life Vehicles (ELVs) and parts of ELVs.  

Mr Donnelly pleaded guilty to two breaches of article 4 of the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997 and was fined £100 on each count plus £49 costs.
