Minister congratulates road safety spokesperson on new year honour
Wednesday, 31 December 2008Environment Minister Sammy Wilson today congratulated DOE Chief Road Safety Officer Harry Green on his inclusion on the New Year Honours list.
Mr Green, who has been involved in road safety issues for 30 years, will receive an MBE for public and voluntary service.
The minister said: “Harry Green has very much been the face and voice of the department on road safety issues since he became the Chief Road Safety Officer in 1992.
“During Direct Rule and devolution, Harry has given a lot of time and energy to the cause of promoting road safety and has been a central figure in efforts to change driver behaviour over the years.
“I know everyone connected with road safety will share my delight that Harry is being rewarded for these efforts. It is a deserved reward for 30 years of dedication and service on this issue.
“I would like to congratulate Harry and his family and all those who have received New Year Honours.”
