27 February 2008 - Foster's shock at school bus crash

Environment Minister Arlene Foster has expressed her personal distress about this morning’s collision.

Arlene Foster said: “My thoughts are with everyone involved in this horrific crash. This must be a time of great anguish for the children, their families and all the pupils and teachers from St Mary’s Primary School and St Ciaran’s High School.

The Minister also revealed that she had passed the scene of the crash only minutes before. “My own shock at the news has been even more stark as I drove past the Ballygawley Road earlier this morning.

“As a parent and someone from a nearby rural area, I can imagine what the families and the whole community are going through at this time.

“My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
