Dromara builder fined £1,200 for illegal waste dumping
Thursday, 11 February 2010A Co Down builder was today fined a total of £1,200 (plus £52 costs) at Banbridge Magistrates’ court for illegal dumping of waste.
John Declan Walker (43) of Crossgar Road, Dromara, pleaded guilty to one charge of illegally depositing waste and two charges of keeping waste without a licence.
Officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency discovered illegally deposited construction and demolition waste on Mr Walker’s site during a visit on 24 April 2009.

- Mr Walker was fined £400 for each offence under the following Articles of the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997: one case under Article 4 (1) a - depositing and knowingly permitting waste to be deposited in or on land without a waste management licence; one case under Article 4(1) b - relating to keeping controlled waste in or on land unless a waste management licence authorising the deposit is in force and the deposit in accordance with the licence.
