19 June 2007 - Fined for illegal taxi signs

A taxi business owner has been fined at Belfast Laganside Courts today for displaying illegal signs in a number of locations in East Belfast

Mr Paul Mawhinney, aged 36 and owner of Belmont Taxis depot which had previously operated at 135 Holywood Road, Belfast, pleaded guilty on all counts of having unauthorised signage without the benefit of planning consent.

The Planning Service brought about the action under Article 84 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991

Mr Mawhinney was fined £525 plus court costs of £86.
