The Minister, who was visiting the Bryson House recycling plant at Mallusk said: “Community and Social Enterprise Groups will play an important role in the environmental future of Northern Ireland. Pilot programmes for recycling white goods and batteries have already made valuable contributions to the reduction of waste going into landfills.
“Bryson House now provides a door-to-door multi-material recycling facility to over twenty-five percent of Northern Ireland homes. Education initiatives such as the ‘Sort it Out’ programme, which promotes waste management awareness among primary school children, will help to ensure that the next generation is aware of the importance of recycling.”
