Environment Minister Arlene Foster has welcomed good news about Northern Ireland beaches.
“I am pleased with the news that this year sees the highest number of Northern Ireland’s Beaches being recommended in the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Beach Guide. The announcement by the Society that thirteen of Northern Ireland’s beaches are recommended is excellent news compared with only 8 sites being included in 2006.
“These results highlight that the £420 million investment program in our sewage infrastructure has led to direct improvements in water quality at many of our beaches. We cannot, however, become complacent and must strive for adequate investment in order to continue to further improve water quality around our coast”.
