At Lisburn Magistrates Court today Donaghmore Construction Ltd of 2 Savings Bank Street, Dungannon, Co Tyrone pleaded guilty to the offence of making a polluting discharge to a waterway and was fined £400 plus costs of £186.46.
On 15 May 2006, an Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) official observed a discharge of oil to the Derriaghy River from a building site at Lagmore, Dunmurry.
Samples confirmed that the contaminated effluent discharging to the river was a mixture of diesel fuel and a heavier mineral fuel and would have been potentially harmful to fish life in the receiving waterway.
