Dungannon couple fined £2,500 for pollution offence
Tuesday, 10 November 2009A Dungannon husband and wife were today fined at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court for causing water pollution.
Mr Malachy Hughes and Mrs Joanna Hughes, Ballygawley Road, Dungannon, pleaded guilty in court in respect of the breach and were fined £2,500 plus £62 court costs.
On 19 June 2008, an Inspector, acting on behalf of Northern Ireland Environment Agency investigated a pollution incident affecting the Torrent River.
The Inspector traced the polluting discharge to the Gables Restaurant, Carland Road, Dungannon, where she found there was a polluting discharge.
