Ballymoney man fined £1,200 for illegal depositing and disposal of controlled waste
Friday, 4 September 2009Mr George Peden (70) of Glenlough Road, Ballyboyland Quarry, Ballymoney, was today found guilty and fined £1,200 for breaches of waste management legislation at Coleraine Magistrates' Court.
Officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency investigated a site at a disused quarry on the Tummock Road, Ballymoney, owned by Mr George Peden on 8 August 2007. During the investigation Mr Peden admitted that he was aware of waste being deposited with his permission. The site did not have a waste management licence/exemption to keep controlled waste on site or planning permission.

1. George Peden pleaded guilty to the following charges under The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Article 4(1)(a) £400, Article 4(1)(b) £400 and Article 4(1)(c) £400 plus costs of £115.
