Community consultation on Buncrana Road improvements

Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Roads Service is investigating the feasibility of improving the A2 Buncrana Road in Derry between Pennyburn roundabout and the border with the Republic of Ireland.

Buncrana Road is part of the North Western Key Transport Corridor connecting Belfast to the city and on to Donegal. It is an important road link in the city and Roads Service is looking at ways to improve traffic flows, reduce traffic congestion and improve journey times along this busy corridor.

Roads Service is holding a Community Consultation event at Ramada Da Vinci’s Hotel, 15 Culmore Road, Derry, on the following dates:

Tuesday 1st April 2008 (5pm to 9pm)
Wednesday 2nd April 2008 (10am to 9pm)
Thursday 3rd April 2008 (10am to 5pm)

A public meeting will take place following the consultation event on Thursday 3 April 2008 (7pm to 9pm) to which local residents and interested parties are invited.

Mr Jim Beattie, Divisional Roads Manager for Roads Service, Northern Division, said: “Roads Service has organised this important event to give local elected representatives, businesses, local residents, statutory consultees and other interested parties the opportunity to come along, meet the design team and obtain information on the project and to take part in the process as the design is developed.”
