At the exhibition, the public will be given an opportunity to view and provide further comment and feedback on the detail of the proposals surrounding the A32 Cherrymount Link Road.
On completion, the scheme will provide an important strategic link from the A32 Irvinestown Road on the north of the town, to the A4 Dublin Road to the east, via the B80 Tempo Road. It is anticipated that upon opening of the proposed new link road it will attract approximately 9,000 vehicles per day.
Based on further route assessment work and feedback received from the public and their representatives at the public consultation event, Roads Service has selected a preferred route alignment. Detailed design of this preferred route is now at an advanced stage. Aerial photography of the site, with the line of the new carriageway superimposed, will also be displayed to provide an easily understood reference point for all interested parties.
It is hoped that the necessary statutory procedures can then commence with publication of a Notice of Intention to make a Vesting Order and Notice of Intention to make a Direction Order scheduled to take place during December of this year. An Environmental Statement has also been prepared for the scheme and this will be published at the same time.
It is anticipated that an advanced earthworks contract will start on site during 2008. This however will be dependent on the outcome of the above statutory procedures which may ultimately necessitate a Public Inquiry. Such an inquiry can prolong the statutory process and thereby delay the start of work on the ground.
Notes to Editors:
1.The A32 Cherrymount Link Road is one of the major works initiatives currently within the Preparation Pool contained in the Regional Strategic Transport Network Transport Plan.
2.The main aims of the scheme are to:

- Reduce congestion in Enniskillen town centre, and at Gaol Square in particular;
- Facilitate a more efficient movement of traffic through and around Enniskillen;
