03 December 2007 - Good progress on £4million investment in Dungannon

Regional Development Minister, Conor Murphy, has welcomed Roads Service’s progress on investment totalling £4million in Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council area this year.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s meeting between Roads Service and Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, the Minister said: “Significant resurfacing schemes have been completed on the A4 at Ballygawley Road, Dungannon, east of Cullenfad Road and at Dungannon Road, Ballygawley. A resurfacing scheme was also completed on the A29 Circular Road, Dungannon. On the capital side, the collision remedial scheme at Carnteel Road / Castletown Road junction near Aughnacloy was completed as was the mini roundabout scheme at the junction of Milltown Road / Mark Street and the footway/cycleway scheme at Killymeal Road, Dungannon. "

Speaking in advance of the meeting Roads Service’s Western Division Manager, Pat Doherty, welcomed the level of investment in local transport and safety measures in the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council area. Other schemes in this years programme include traffic calming schemes at Killymeal Road Dungannon and Main Street Donaghmore and the provision of Safer Routes to Schools projects at St Patrick’s Primary School Annaghmore and Royal School Dungannon. A junction improvement at Killybracken Road / Eglish Road is also planned.

Mr Doherty said: “We will, in delivering any scheme, attempt to minimise the disruption that will arise from our works and, where appropriate, will give motorists advance warning of roadworks through signage and information prior to the works.”
