Road closures on M2 next week

There will be several overnight road closures next week on the M2 to allow for the partial demolition of Longlands Bridge in north Belfast.

The M2 motorway will be closed between Junctions 2 and 4 on Friday 11January from 10pm - 6am, Saturday, 12 January from 10pm - 11am and Sunday, 13 January from 10pm - 6am.

The bridge will be cut in half along its length and half of the bridge will be demolished with the remaining half providing access across the bridge during construction of half of the new bridge. The other half of the old bridge will then be demolished later in 2008 and the remaining part of the new Longland's Bridge constructed.

During the overnight demolition works access will be maintained across the bridge and controlled by a Stop/Go System.

HMC and Road Service apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users during this road closure.
