Thursday, 29 January 2009 There will be a number of lane closures on the Westlink in Belfast over the next two weeks to complete oustanding roadworks.

Roads Service confirmed that the Westlink will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Broadway and Divis Street junctions from Monday 2 February until Sunday 15 February 2009.

The works will involve completing safety barriers, traffic signs, road drainage and other road works resulting from the Road Safety Audit. These works were deferred to allow the M1/Westlink to be opened to three lanes on the run up to Christmas.

The lane closures will cause delays, particularly during the morning and evening peaks, and drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.

The M1/Westlink improvements are presently on target for completion later in February 2009.

Notes To Editors:
