02 July 2008 - M2 Closure-Longland's bridge demolition

M2 CLOSURE - LONGLAND'S BRIDGE DEMOLITION

The other half of Longland’s Bridge will be demolished this weekend. The bridge will remain operational with access provided by a Stop – Go system.

To facilitate the demolition the M2 will be closed between 10pm and 6am on Friday night and the city bound carriageway will also be closed on Saturday night between 10pm and 11am. The diversion route for the full closure will be: Sandyknowes Roundabout - Ballyhenry Rd - Prince Charles Way – O’Neill Rd - Station Road - Shore Road. Emergency Services have been advised of the closure.

There will be some noise as a result of these works, however every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. This work can only be carried out at night as the contractor will be working from the M2 and in the vicinity of the bridge and this requires a full closure of the motorway. HMC and Roads Service apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
