07 May 2008 - Regional Development Minister meets local representatives to discuss A26

Regional Development Minister, Conor Murphy, met today with North Antrim MLA's, to discuss the proposed dualling of the A26 between Glarryford and Drones Road.

During the meeting the Minister took the opportunity to clarify a number of issues, particularly in relation to MLA's concerns that the Department had given the impression at a recent meeting with the Frocess Road Association that one of the two eastern alignment options for the scheme had been chosen.

In relation to this matter the Minister said: "There appears to be a misunderstanding. The Department has not yet selected the preferred route for this scheme. There are five route options being assessed and all are viable options. The assessment process in selecting a preferred route is expected to be completed in June this year after which I will make a public announcement."
