The preparatory drainage and kerb work will start on the 18 May. During these works traffic will be restricted to a single lane.
Following the July holidays, work will be carried out to complete the drainage works and resurfacing of Church Road. During this period Church Road will be closed daily from 9.15 am to 4.30 pm and from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm for a 4 to 6 week period. To minimise disruption and facilitate the heavy holiday traffic flows between Newcastle and Belfast, Church Road will not be closed on Sundays. During the closure of Church Road, Newcastle to Belfast traffic will be diverted through Downpatrick.
During the roadworks every effort will be made to maintain access to properties along the affected route. While Roads Service would apologise in advance for any disruption caused by the proposed resurfacing, the co-operation and patience of the public would be appreciated while this essential road maintenance work is carried out.
