Speaking ahead of tonight’s meeting between Roads Service and Fermanagh District Council, the Minister said: “The 2+1 scheme on the A4 at Lisbellaw has recently been completed and provides a safe overtaking opportunity for eastbound motorists. This scheme compliments the adjacent Maguiresbridge scheme which provides overtaking in the opposite direction. The roundabout scheme on the A32 at Trory junction is also progressing well and completion works are programmed for the new year."
Speaking in advance of the meeting Roads Service’s Western Division Manager, Mr Pat Doherty, welcomed the level of investment in local transport and safety measures in the Fermanagh District Council area. Other schemes included in this years programme include traffic calming schemes in the Derrychara area of Enniskillen and the provision of Safer Routes to Schools projects at St Mary’s Primary School, Maguiresbridge, St Patrick’s Primary School, Derrygonnelly, St Eugene’s Primary School, Knocks and Ballinamallard Primary School. A right turn lane is also to be provided on the A4 at the Maguiresbridge junction and collision remedial schemes are planned for Clones Road Newtownbutler and at the Share Centre in Lisnaskea.
Mr Doherty said: “We will, in delivering any scheme, attempt to minimise the disruption that will arise from our works and where appropriate will give motorists advance warning of roadworks through signage and information prior to the works.”
