Drivers are warned to expect considerable congestion in this area and on its approaches during peak times and are advised, if possible, to avoid the area altogether.
Diversion routes are in place and signposted.
Drivers approaching the city centre from the direction of East Belfast should consider using the Queens Bridge rather than the Albert Bridge. There will, however, still be access to the Ormeau Road (countrybound) from Albertbridge Road and East Bridge Street. Also, drivers using the Ormeau Road (citybound) to gain access to the city centre are advised, if possible, to find an alternative route as it is expected that the signed diversion route of Ormeau Avenue, Bedford Street and Howard Street will be heavily congested.
This section of Cromac Street will remain closed whilst carriageway repairs are being carried out and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
Updates on traffic conditions can be obtained from the Trafficwatch website and the traffic information telephone number 0845 7123 321.
