15 October 2007 - Hightown bridge closure

Hightown Bridge in Glengormley will close for six weeks from Sunday evening 21 October 2007, as part of the ongoing improvements to the M2 motorway.

This closure is required to allow critical services to be diverted in advance of the Hightown Bridge being demolished early next year.

By undertaking these works and this closure at this time it is expected that Hightown Bridge will be re-opened again in early December.

A signed diversion route will be available via Mallusk Road, Scullions Road, Sandyknowes Roundabout and Antrim Road, in both directions. Pedestrian access will be maintained across Hightown Bridge at all times.

The Hightown Bridge will be closed in early January 2008 for approximately 12 months to allow the 50 year old structure to be demolished and a new bridge constructed.

Roads Service and contractors HMC apologise for any inconvenience caused during the roadworks.
