08 September 2009 - Regional Development Minister launches Biodiversity Plan for Translink

Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy, today launched Translink’s first Biodiversity Action Plan.

The plan, which is a key element of Translink’s environmental strategy, will guide the conservation of the natural heritage found in and around Translink’s property, within the context of operational and safety requirements.

At an event to launch the plan in Malone House in Belfast, the Minister said: “I welcome the introduction of this five year Biodiversity Action Plan and recognise that it is an important part of Translink’s environmental strategy going forward.

“The Regional Transportation Strategy published by my Department clearly positions sustainable transport as having a positive influence on the environment, the economy and social development here in the north.

“Our local natural heritage is important, and by putting this plan into action, Translink will demonstrate their commitment to contributing to the protection of our heritage in a positive and proactive manner.”
