A woman was convicted at Antrim Crown Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Lorna McDaid (38) of Rockmount Gardens, Articlave claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £21,581 while living together as husband and wife. She was given a nine month sentence on each of the two charges, suspended for two years, to run concurrently.
Mrs McDaid is also required to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 233 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
